STEM Journey: Development & Mentorship
Youth build skills, leadership, and confidence through long-term mentorship and real-world STEM experiences that prepare them for postsecondary pathways and careers.
Long-Term STEM Development and Mentorship
STEM Journey is a multi-year pathway where youth deepen their STEM knowledge, leadership, and confidence through mentorship and real-world learning experiences. As they progress through key stages of their education, participants strengthen their STEM identity and develop the skills needed to navigate postsecondary pathways and careers. Along the way, applied learning experiences such as workshops and internships, as well as financial scholarship supports, help ensure youth can persist through critical academic and career transitions. All STEM Journey programs are offered at no cost to participants, removing financial barriers to sustained engagement.
STEM Journey Programs
STEM Journey programs are multi-year commitments designed for youth from specific communities and priority groups we partner with across the GTA. Programs are offered at no cost to participants to ensure equitable access. Participation occurs through an application or referral process at particular stages of the pathway, and space in each cohort is limited.

What Participants are Saying
“My confidence to pursue a STEM career has greatly improved because I've gained a clear understanding of the educational pathways, opportunities for hands-on experience, and resources available to support my journey.”
“Before, STEM concepts really scared me and I thought they were very complicated, but I now understand and am very curious about STEM.”
“I was able to learn from a lot of different people who experienced failure but were still able to get back up and pursue their career.”
“The avenue that the Connect program improved the most was my awareness of skills that could help me succeed in a career. I was able to realize the importance of communication skills as a consequence of time in the program.”
“I’m much more confident in my academics. Especially in STEM courses. I used to be, like, really kind of turned away from them, and intimidated by them. But I find myself, this year, being much more confident in them, and really trying my best when I never used to last year...”
“I find that I’m much more organized, and I’m much more willing to chase after goals that I have without falling short or not giving it my all. And I really think that I am going to pursue a career in STEM now”
“I didn't know much about the skills that could help me succeed in a career. Empower was here and they taught me all about it. Same as [how to succeed in] Post Secondary Education. “
“The launch program has helped foster, and improve my love for STEM, and provided me with the opportunities that reaffirmed my reasons for pursuing STEM.”
